May Giveaway Day

I am totally mad about suffolk puffs (aka yoyos). Problem is, I'm not sure what to make using them for my next project. I've been doing Internet searches and there are so many cute things that people have made using suffolk puffs but i just can't decide what I should make. So for my giveaway I am going to let you decide.

To be in the running for my giveaway, all you have to do is comment on this post what you would like made out of suffolk puffs just for you. It can be anything you want. I will choose the most unique/original/interesting/appealing project. I may even pick more than one project if I have trouble deciding.

Here are some ideas for you: doll blanket, clothing, child's vest, scarf, headband, corsage, toy, cot or bassinette bedspread, garland, wreath, cushion. I will even consider making a larger sized bedspread if you can come up with an original pattern for me, If I choose to make a bedspread for someone, that person will have to be a bit patient though because it will take me a while to make. Feel free to specify favourite colours or patterns if you like and you can provide pictures if you have something very particular in mind. Please try and be as creative as you can be as I am feeling uninspired lately.

I will post internationally and you can enter as many times as you like. And feel free to follow me if you are in to yoyos cos I'm new to blogging and would love to score some followers!

Good luck! By the way, how awesome is giveaway day?! and how happy does my little girl look in the pile of suffolk puffs?!

I love the baby cot quilt you made, my baby boy would love to sink into that. andydanii@bigpond.com

Very cute bub with puffs :) I'd choose a scarf I think - just enough to add a bit of warmth around the neck without the itch of wool.

Xena said...[Reply to comment]

I would most likely use them to make a throw for the lounge

Neen said...[Reply to comment]

I just saw an old chair upholstered in suffolk puffs!! Looked amazing! But don't worry ... that is not my suggestion :) I would love to see a collection of colourful suffolk puffs decorating a bag (which I could keep my crochet in and show off on the train ride to work each day)!

i 'd make a round long pillow covering.

Tracey@bountifully said...[Reply to comment]

mm. not sure how original this is, but I have indeed always wanted to make a yo yo blanket for my craft room/guest room sofa bed. Ok, not original, but it is sincere!

Tracey said...[Reply to comment]

just the name is fun - suffolk puffs. I think I would put them on a neutral flecked cushion cover in a clump of 5-9 together in one corner. :)

I've always loved the clown dolls, ever since I had a childhood storybook about a young girl who made one with her mother.

Not original at all but am getting ready to move my little boy into a big boy bed. Looking at all the colors on his quilt just might keep him in bed long enough to sleep. :)

I think some placemats for the table. Or I would just throw them in the air like giant confetti and let my kid have a party!

This may seem out of reach, but I have wanted for a very LOOOOONG time a quilt with different prints. Almost like a patchwork quilt. Something like this kind of idea...

Isnt that AMAZING???! I like bright, vibrant fun colors, not like the old time quilts, lol! I would even be willing to help with any shipping costs!

Thanks for doing this!!

I'd use them as part of an applique - flowers or maybe owl eyes... depends on the print.

What a darling little baby!

I think you could make a darling little girl's jumper (I have a feeling Australians have a different name for them - not a sweater, a sleeveless dress that's meant to be worn over a top - maybe pinafore?)

Something kind of like this:
http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/vivienne-toddler-jumper (but, you know, made of puffs sewn together) in girly-girl colors.

I just about died when I saw how many yo-yos you have there! Wow. I'd make a skirt for my daughter actually. Wouldn't that be darling? And, if there were extras I'd make a pillow because my great grandma had one like that when I was little and it would be a sweet reminder of her.

Recently I made a couple and put them on a card for a friend though. Totally cute that way too.

Anonymous said...[Reply to comment]

Ok, I am not very original but I think that the quilts made with the puffs are amazing. They remind me of my grandmother and the women that came before her. They just scream history to me and love.

But doing a clutch or a purse in them would be fun as well and I am sure much faster. :-)

MossyOakLane said...[Reply to comment]

I just love to decorate everything with them! Hats, sweaters, headbands, pants! add some leaves and they look like flowers.

Leigh said...[Reply to comment]

Somewhere in blog land, I once saw a little girl skirt with yoyos all around the hem. I love the idea and I keep meaning to try it. What I'd do is do one color all around, and then do a few rows of different colors- Maybe even a rainbow! A row of red at the hem, then a row of orange, then yellow, etc! And I think I will start calling them suffolk puffs, that's so much cuter than yoyos!

Rachel C said...[Reply to comment]

I think a baby blanket would be cute, but more like a snuggle blankie and not an actual blanket to cover up with. You could make one shaped like a cupcake with black and white on the bottom and pink for the frosting. That would be extra cute!

I LOVE yo yos!!! I remember as a child seeing a bedcover made with them and thinking that someday I would have to make that. It was done as flowers with colored centers surrounded by lots of green. I still think that someday I will tackle it so that is my choice.

I would use them to make a mobile for my son to put over his crib. Your daughter looks about the same age as him. Isn't this a fun time developmentally?!?

Ha! Is the prize all those yoyos???? I have a project in a grocery bag that I NEED to start soon, it is for a table cloth for the kitchen. I wanted rusts, golds, sage and fern greens a few browns thrown in, sort of tuscany like? Anyway, if I had all those, that's what I would make a table cloth...saw one in a movie and fell in love! :)

I would LOVE a yoyo scarf. Or a shirt embellished with yoyos across the neckline and down the front. Yummy! And, yes, your little one is adorable! How old is she? She is so SMILEY!

i bought a yoyo make to use up those scraps but have yet to try it. I would make throw pillow covers out of them, maybe even baste them into a quilt top. how fun, what a nice stash you have!!

I would love to see a bedspread made out of those or for ease a lap quilt.
